Inspiration? All I can say is... it was a magical beautiful night... and the silence for the first time, was just a beautiful sound. One of two songs on this album which actually make my eyes tear up. It was a special honor to collaborate with my dear friend and haiku teacher, Toshie Kyotani. I emailed her during the overdub sessions to ask her to write a Japanese haiku. Inspired by my lyric, she came through with a perfect fit. Long time friend and student Yotsumoto-san and Hassy assisted me with proper phrasing and pronunciation for the vocal session. Oh, the falsetto lead vocal was an OBViOUS first! I just kept reminding myself that if Mick Jaggar could do it on "Emotional Rescue", then my masculinity would probably go unchallenged. haha.

どこからひらめいたか？ただ言えるのは、うっとりとするようなある美しい夜に、静寂が初めて美しい音に聞こえたということです。このアルバムの中で、ついつい涙ぐんでしまう曲が２曲あるのですが、これはそのうちの１曲です。友人にして俳句の先生でもある京谷俊江先生とコラボレーションできたことは、この上ない名誉です。多重録音セッション中に先生にメールをし、俳句を一句詠んでもらえないかお願いしたのです。わたしの歌詞にインスピレーションを受けて、先生は完璧な一句を詠んでくださいました。「静かさや ともに過ごしし 蛍の夜。」長年の友人であり生徒でもある四元氏とHassyが、ボーカル録音のために、正しい言葉使いと発音の仕方を教えてくれました。リードボーカルにファルセット（裏声）を使用したのは、OBViOUS初です！ミック・ジャガーに"Emotional Rescue"で使ってもらえそうな裏声、というのをひたすら思い起こすようにしていました。そうすれば、一応男らしくしていられそうでしたから(笑)。
